Summer 2026 Events Guide: Arromanches & the Bessin
Night market, concerts, 14 July fireworks, the Arromanches Festival, the illuminated cathedral: every summer 2026 event near Arromanches, with dates.
Summer 2026 is shaping up to be a busy one on the Bessin coast: between fireworks, open-air concerts and free shows, Arromanches-les-Bains and its surroundings pack in the events from mid-July to the end of August. Here, with dates and times, is how to plan your agenda from our studio right in the heart of the village — without missing the headline events or the weekly habits of the season. It also answers the question many future visitors ask: what is there to do this summer in Arromanches, beyond the beach and the museum?
The major events of summer 2026
- 14 July remains the busiest day of the season in Arromanches: an all-day flea market (8am-8pm) on Place du 6 Juin, a concert by the band Roving Crows at 9pm, then fireworks at 11.15pm over the remains of the artificial harbour — a rare setting, with the sea and the history as a backdrop.
- From 9 to 15 August, the Arromanches Festival returns with four concerts at the church of Saint-Pierre: an opening on 9 August with Vivaldi's "Venetian splendours", an organ recital on 11 August, the ensemble Les Horizons Chimériques on 13 August, and a closing concert on 15 August from 6pm to 7.30pm featuring Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 and Violin Concerto with soloist Stéphanie-Marie Degand.
- About twenty minutes away, Courseulles-sur-Mer celebrates the sea in its own way: a tribute ceremony for sailors on 10 August, then the Fête de la Mer on 23 and 24 August in the harbour.
- In early July, the Médiévales already brought the village to life ahead of summer; now it is the turn of the season's own line-up.
What happens every week in Arromanches?
Beyond the headline events, Arromanches keeps to a weekly rhythm all summer long — handy for planning a week's stay without missing anything:
- Monday evenings, the "Lundis d'Arromanches" bring a concert to Place du 6 Juin — on 13 July at 9pm, it's musette swing with Minor Swing.
- Thursdays, free wooden games for families from 2pm, followed by Yoga Sunset on the beach at 6.45pm until the end of August.
- Fridays, head to Port-en-Bessin, less than a 15-minute drive away: from 11 July to 29 August, the night market brings the Quais Oblet and de Gaulle to life from 6pm to 11pm, with local crafts and food, and fireworks in the evening. A good complement to the markets and Norman produce of the Bessin to explore during the day.
What other cultural highlights are there in the Bessin this summer?
Beyond Arromanches itself, a few outings are worth the detour in the neighbouring villages:
- Les Embruns de Musique: from 15 to 23 July, this classical music festival fills the church in Arromanches, with a violin-and-guitar duo on 18 July and the Sheffield choir on 22 July — not to be confused with the Arromanches Festival in August.
- Contemplations, rendez-vous à la cathédrale: in Bayeux, from 14 July to 29 August, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at dusk, the cathedral's façade lights up with a completely free sound-and-light show. Our guide to the Bayeux cathedral show covers the best viewing spots.
- Flea markets: besides the one on 14 July, a second flea market takes over the Arromanches seafront on 19 July, paired with a late-morning concert.
- La Villa des arts, on 18 and 19 July in Ver-sur-Mer (salle de la plage): craft stalls, a concert and fireworks.
- The Longues-sur-Mer battery offers 2-hour guided tours at 2pm on several dates in July-August (16/07, 18/07, 07-08/08, 15/08, 22/08, 28-29/08) — the site itself stays freely open the rest of the time.
- To get around without a car, the summer bus line NoMad Car 125 runs daily between Courseulles-sur-Mer and Grandcamp-Maisy via Arromanches, from 5 July to 31 August.
Experiences to enjoy all season long
Two must-sees are not tied to a single date:
- Standing with Giants, at the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer: until 19 September, 1,476 silhouettes pay tribute to the British and Commonwealth soldiers who fell on 6 June 1944 — an installation that is just as moving by day as at dusk.
- Arromanches 360, the village's circular cinema: open until 31 August, with 20-minute screenings every 20 to 30 minutes from 10am to 6pm, reliving the Battle of Normandy on nine screens that fully surround the viewer — a good option in late morning before heading to the beach, or as a shelter if the sky clouds over.
